Dahab Diving Safari

Boat Safaris

We offer boat safari ranging from one to five days within the area Sharm-El Sheikh.

RAS Mohammed & wreck of the S.S. Thistlegorm

One of the most famous wrecks in the Red Sea is the SS Thistlegorm, It was a British Army Supply Ship en route to North Africa.  On October 6th 1941, she was awaiting permission to travel north through the Suez Canal when she was bombed by a German long-range bomber patrolling from Crete.  SS Thistlegorm sank taking only 7 lives with her.  In 1951 Jacques Cousteau discovered the wreck on an exploration dive.  She was subsequently lost until she was rediscovered again in 1992 by a live-on-board dive charter boat.

Today,  some 30 meters below the surface, the Thistlegorm is still packed with the paraphernalia of war:  railway carriages, trucks, motorcycles, heaps of tires, thousands of rifles, rubber boots, munitions, communication equipment and aircraft wings.  Over the years the sea has transformed the wreck into an artificial reef encrusted by breathtaking hard and soft coral.  It has also become a sanctuary for all kinds of marine life found in the Red Sea.

Camel Safari

camel safari

Dahab is the only place on the planet where you must reach the dive site by camel, leaving at dawn and returning at dusk.

An example of such a dive site is Gabr-El Bint.  Following a short taxi ride, we load the camels with all the scuba gear and climb aboard.   The picturesque 45 minute journey is marked by desert mountains looming up to your right and rolling waves of the Gulf of Aqaba on your left.

The first dive is called Gorgonian Reef, marked by a large canyon and beautiful gorgonian fans as far as the eye can see!!  Since this virgin dive site is less frequently visited, the coral is in pristine condition and is unrivaled in the whole of Dahab.

Emerging from the water the Bedouins will have prepared a fabulous meal for you.  During the surface interval, you are able to explore the breathtaking surroundings, snorkel, take photos and chill out on the beach.

The second dive of the day is both a wall dive and a lagoon dive.  This site is renowned for large and varied aquatic life.

On your return camel journey you can witness the spectacular Sinai sunset  - an experience not to be missed!!

If this wets your appetite, we offer camel safari adventures ranging from one to three days.  Please ask at the counter for more information on this and other exclusive offers from DEEP BLUE DIVERS
